Welcome to The Software Devotional. This is the first post at my new home for my blog. The content will differ slightly than before - read on. If you have found this blog from a link on jeauxnes.com, I'm glad you are here. The jeauxnes.com site will be undergoing some retasking in the near future.
The Software Devotional will include content covering things of interest to me - mostly about software development and processes. My interests lean toward items of architectural interest. However, you will find that I have a widely varied group of interests. I also sometimes get overly passionate about things that normal people don't give a second thought to. So I might ramble. :) A good example of me going geek on an otherwise boring topic was a recent breakdown in my computer's backup strategy (I do mean strategy).
If you know me, you know I have a great day job at Passport Health Communications, Inc. We are based in Franklin, Tennessee, just south of Nashville. We build software that is constantly pushing the limits of the hardware and software platforms we employ. We are a victim of very rapid growth of some ground-breaking products that are literally transforming the administrative side of the healthcare industry. I will post about some insights I learn along the way at Passport when I think they can help fellow software developers.
I am also an avid reader of all things technical. I love to explore different perspectives on topics. When I read a book that I believe will be of interest to other developers, I will share what I can. My reviews will tend not to be full book reports. Instead, I will try to describe where the book fits in, who mind find it interesting, some of the more interesting parts of the book, and whether it was entertaining or not.
Here's what you can expect:
